Our Mission & Vision

Serving people in their time of need

We are an organization committed to serving families and all individuals in the fight against hunger and homelessness in the Kennett area and surrounding communities. We are responsible stewards of the community, helping members of the greater Kennett community to lift themselves in a dignified manner out of the cycle of poverty.

We achieve this goal through both raising awareness in the community to the needs of underprivileged with few resources and working with them to identify and work towards solutions to their challenges through a network of community connections that care.

Our Story

Over 60 years ago, Kennett Area Community Service (KACS) began to Serve People in their Time of Need with the distribution of Christmas food baskets to a few families. KACS now provides a 5-7 day supply of food each month to over 400 families.  Special food projects include monthly deliveries to the residents of Luther House as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas events.

The KACS Emergency Assistance Program offers case management, referral services and financial assistance for rent, utilities and other needs. This program also works to resolve homelessness through homeless prevention and rapid rehousing services. KACS also provides bathing and laundry facilities as part of this effort. Between 80-100 homeless households participate in these services each year.

Operated by a core staff and a team of dedicated volunteers, Kennett Area Community Service continues to evolve to meet the needs of the community and help families find solutions to break the cycle of poverty.
