BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Lynne Seligman, President
Lynne has been a full-time volunteer in Kennett Square for over 20 years, previously serving as Vice President of the Board of Directors at Kennett After School Association, robotics coach at Kennett Middle School, and most recently on the Information Technology Committee at KACS. Prior to working full time as a volunteer, she taught in the business department at Penn State and worked as a project manager in financial institutions and a county housing authority.
Leon Spencer, Vice President
Leon is a former Mayor of the Borough of Kennett Square and was president of the Kennett Square Borough Council. Currently, he is chairman of the Chester County School Authority, vice-chairman of the board for the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, and a member of the Council of Trustees for Cheyney University. He also serves on the boards of the Chester County Regional Educational Service, the Advisory Council for Jenner’s Pond Retirement Community, the Advisory Committee for the Volunteers in English Program in Chester County and is a member of the Fire Control Board for the Kennett Fire Company. He and his wife Kathryn, who is a KACS volunteer, reside in the Borough of Kennett Square.
Thomas H. Musser, Treasurer
Tom is a Kennett Square native and works at The Tri-M Group as their Senior Cash Manager. Prior to joining Tri-M, Tom worked in the accounting/finance areas for Genesis HealthCare in Kennett and SCAN Health Plan in Long Beach, CA. He has a B.A. in Economics from The Johns Hopkins University. Tom is an avid runner and has completed numerous marathons and triathlons often as part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program.
Lenda Carrillo, Diversity and Inclusion Officer
Lenda has been a Kennett Square resident for over 20 years. She graduated from Penn State and earned a master’s degree from Immaculata University. Lenda is currently employed as a mental health provider for Child Guidance Resource Centers in Chester County. She previously worked for the Kennett YMCA as the Outreach Community Director and as a Case Worker at KACS. As a community volunteer, Lenda has given her time to Longwood Gardens and Casa Guanajuato and serves on the Board of Young Moms and the Chester County Children, Youth and Family Advisory Committee. Lenda and her husband, Jose, have two young sons.
Christine Prisco, Secretary
Christine works in the retirement plan industry for Principal Financial Group. Prior to joining the Board, Christine was a KACS volunteer and a member of the Empty Bowls Committee. Christine was raised in the Kennett area. She is a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Christine currently lives in Kennett Square with her dog George. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, running and art.
Lynn and her husband have been residents of Kennett Square for over 20 years. A stay-at-home mom, she served as a volunteer in the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District while her three sons were attending, including PTO President at both Hillendale Elementary and Unionville High School. Lynn began volunteering as a shopper at the Food Cupboard in 2014, chaired the KACS Empty Bowls Event for three years and joined the board in 2018.
Jim was raised and educated in New England, Jim and his family moved to the Kennett area over 30 years ago. He completed a 33 year career in Dupont R&D in 2007. He then consulted for numerous years, while he also volunteered in KASA, KACS, and most recently the Family Promise organizations. He joined the KACS board in 2014.
Jim enjoys golfing and spending much time with his four wonderful granddaughters.
L. Peter Soraruf MD
Pete Soraruf has been a Family Physician in Kennett Square since 1977. In 2006, he was named PA Family Physician of the Year. He is a graduate of Lafayette College and Jefferson Medical College. For 17 years he served on the Board of the Chester County Hospital, and he served as president of Kennett Square Rotary in 1993.
Before retiring in 2014, Bob was the Programs Manager for DuPont Sales. His expertise in best practices and performance management supported his work with Connecting Generations Inc, the Kennett Education Foundation and the Rotary Club of Kennett Square which started the Longwood Club the year he was President. Bob joined the KACS Board in 2015. He is a proud retired Naval Officer and Penn State Engineer where he recently served as President of the first Learning Factory board which won the NSF award for innovation in engineering education.
David L. Myers
A lawyer in Kennett Square (where he resides) for over 40 years, Dave has been active with and held leadership positions with the local Lions Club and United Way and with the former Southern Chester County Medical Center. He has served on the Board of the Red Clay Valley Association and the Kennett Area Senior Center and now with the Health and Welfare Foundation of Southern Chester County.
Anton has lived in Kennett Square for the past 18 years. And as a local public defender, environmentalist and educator, he has fought for civil rights, gender and race equity, quality and affordable public education and clean air and water.
He is the son of Anthony and Dorothy Andrew, hard working West Indian immigrants who came here so Anton and his younger sister could have a shot at the American Dream. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Hofstra University School of Law.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Lisa has been a resident of the Kennett area for over 30 years, working as the librarian at Kennett High School for the past 24 years, after serving as the children’s librarian and referendum coordinator for the Kennett Public Library. Her passion for social justice led her to KACS where she serves on the Food Committee, the liaison between KACS and the KHS Humanitarian Club which she advises. A proud member of the Kennett Amateur Theatrical Society, Lisa also served on their board of directors for five years. In addition to theater, she loves to travel and spend time with her amazing adult daughters.
