Connecting our neighbors in need with food, shelter and a path forward.
Food.
KACS has been connecting our neighbors in need with food, for more than 60 years. We feed over 1.000 people per month and are one of the largest food cupboards in Chester County. Our Food Cupboard is an open-choice pantry allowing participants to make their own food selections from the shelves. We rely on the generosity of the community for donations and a team of approximately 75 volunteers every month.
KACS is the premier agency for southern Chester County. We work with Chester County and the Decade to Doorways program to end homelessness, along with many other social service agencies and organizations. We strongly believe that everyone should have a place to live, and no-one should have to worry about where they will sleep or put their children to bed. Our case management team works with vulnerable individuals and families to create sustainable living solutions. We do this by providing emergency assistance and case management. Together, with the help of our partner agencies we connect families and individuals with short/long-term options for rapid rehousing. Our Resource Center is also available for those experiencing homelessness to access laundry and shower facilities Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm.
Reducing the social costs of poverty, strengthening the workforce, and building a more prosperous and sustainable community are goals on which most communities agree. The Bridges Out of Poverty community support program at KACS provides a family of concepts, workshops, and products to help employers, community organizations, social service agencies, and individuals address and reduce poverty in a comprehensive way. Bridges brings people from all sectors and economic classes together to improve job retention rates, build resources, improve outcomes, and support those who are moving out of poverty.
