Looking to Volunteer?

The Kennett Food Cupboard is manned almost entirely by volunteers. You must be able to lift 15-20 lbs. and have a friendly personality with a willingness to help. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and under 16 accompanied by an adult.

We have several volunteer opportunities available. If you love working as part of team, interacting with people from a variety of economic and social backgrounds, and can maintain complete confidentiality—we would love to have you apply!

Food Donation/Drive Correspondent – 1 day/week, any day except Tuesday
Need flexible hours and a quiet morning or afternoon? This position involves creating personalized thank you letters for food donations/food drives. Basic knowledge of Word is required.

Food Demonstrations/Food Preserving – once a week or bi-monthly.
Demonstrate healthy recipes and/or how to preserve food for our participants on Mondays and Wednesdays during Food Cupboard hours (12-3 M or 3-6 W).

Receptionist – Resource Center – 1-2 days per week (Monday and Wednesday) 10 am – 12 pm or 12 pm – 2 pm
Answer the phone, screen calls and greet participants. This position involves direct contact with individuals and families in crisis, so an interest in social services is desired. Some administrative duties as well as helping participants with various needs. Training provided. Ability to speak some Spanish helpful.
